Do you want to own and operate a short-term rental? Listen up, people! 😳😳😳
If you are a mom-and-pop operation like me, you are going to have to get handy, otherwise, you will throw away all your cash flow by calling contractors to fix things you could fix yourself.
The Broken Bed
It was broken by—you know what 😃👿😂. This needs to be fixed immediately for the next guest. The guest who did this left it as is, but my cleaners saw it, sent a picture, and I went and fixed it.
Freezer Fiasco
The same guest left the freezer door ajar and jammed the ice maker. We didn’t know about this until the next guest arrived, so I just finished fixing it.
Garbage Glitch
Guests didn’t put the garbage in the right bins, so the garbage man refused to take it. Guess who had to pick it up, rebag it, and take it to the dump? Me 👍.
Clogged Sink
A guest complained the bathroom sink didn’t drain because the previous guest had left lots of hair and removed a part, leaving it for the next guest.
These are easy repairs, but they will chew up your ROI if you aren’t willing to get handy. Everything you need to know is online!
These fixes were done in a home we already remodeled, so it’s all new. I’m off now to go fix some things on one of my properties that was built in 1906, has two homes on it, and hasn’t been renovated yet… so the fixes are usually a lot tougher.
Hiring a management company could cost you an extra 10-40 percent every month. I tell every single one of my clients who I help buy a home to get handy if they are entering the ADU-DADU rental game.
And it’s a great way to teach your kids how to put down the video controller, get curious, and work with tools.
When you need us, we’re just a sit-down away.
