I knew Ron & Don would be the perfect realtors to help us move. I’ve been listening to them on KIRO-FM radio since we moved to Mukilteo. When Ron Upshaw declared on his social media and podcasts that he and Don O’Neill are real estate brokers at Windemere, an idea stirred in the back of my mind. What kept me from immediately reaching out was the fear that they wouldn’t be interested in a family of three outside of Seattle, where they’re based…with their busy schedule and HUGE fan base.

My gut instinct kept nagging me, though, and I finally did reach out to Ron via email. He replied right away and within days, we’d arrived at a date for our sit-down. Again, I assumed they only wanted us to get down to business, no small talk, no fan-girling about their KIRO-FM days, don’t ask about what it was like, just talk about the house, in and out.

Wrong again.

These guys couldn’t have been kinder, more accommodating, more understanding and patient. They didn’t just focus on the real estate transaction. They focused on us, as people, and fast friends. They wanted to make sure first and foremost that we took enough time to emotionally move, and they were always open to any questions, concerns, or venting.

Ron found our rental fairly quickly, a dream home I fell in love with at first sight. He’s kept us even-keeled, focused on the prize, as a numbers guy, which is strangely comforting for me, and occasionally when needed, reminded us of the essential bottom line when we had our head in the clouds (more Ed than me, heh). He did a ton of groundwork to enable us to move forward. If it weren’t for him giving us the facts of life, we may not have sold our house within days of lowering our ridiculously unrealistic initial selling price.

Don has my heart forever. He busted his ASS for us, giving away more than he should, just to get the job done. He was the lead realtor, as I suspect he fell a little in love with our house, too, and its backyard horse trails, where he’d go with his dog to run and explore. His outgoing, human-interest personality, dogged determination, willingness to get his hands dirty (even with an injured back), and negotiate on our behalf majorly led to this sale.

Ron was our head, Don was our heart, a perfect combination Ed and I and James needed. And, get this, they sold our house above ask DURING A COVID-19 PANDEMIC, which includes getting it frontline ready to sell.

This sale is all on them. I knew we were in good hands from the beginning, I knew they’d take care of us not just as clients but as friends, and I knew they wouldn’t let me down. I trusted them implicitly, which is huge for me.

They came through, handling our sale professionally, conscientiously, and with utmost care.

There aren’t enough sourdough breads and cinnamon rolls to express our thanks. But I’ll certainly try.
