These last three weeks have been some of the best memories of my adult life.

After watching my Mom undergo surgery for breast cancer a second time a few months back, I watched in awe at her fighting spirit. Her love of life and the importance of her connection to family are evident.

After being separated for 15 months due to COVID, we all felt incredibly grateful to spend this Christmas and New Year’s together. We spent the holidays with our friends Joe and Jennifer in Maui.

Watching my Mother navigate the waters of her husband passing, and then battling COVID and cancer at the same time, has been a Master’s Class in grit, fortitude, and determination.

I realize that many of my friend’s no longer have a parent to call, reminisce, and to go play with…. that is not lost on me as I head out to the airport to drop her off today. I savor every minute and moment with her.

And I still cry when I drop her off…

And I think she does too….

Mother you are one classy, badass , determined , grateful human.

I am grateful the universe picked you to be my parent.

I have never needed a dad… because I’ve always had you.

And that’s always been enough.

Safe travels young lady, see you sometime real soon.

Mahalo!!!!
